Shipping FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most about shipping from Thailand with MADD, UPS and DHL.

Getting started

What is an international courier service?

An international courier service is an express shipping solution that delivers parcels quickly and securely from Thailand to worldwide destinations through global carriers such as UPS and DHL. It is ideal for small to medium-sized parcels, lightweight shipments, small quantities, and urgent international deliveries, with full tracking visibility from origin to destination.

Which carriers does MADD use?

MADD is an official UPS Authorized Shipping Outlet in Bangkok, and works closely with DHL Express and Sagawa Express (for Japan) in Thailand — all globally recognized courier providers.

Do I need a membership to ship with MADD?

You do not need to apply for membership to use our service. Individual customers can ship immediately by presenting a valid identification document: a National ID card or Passport.

What information is required for international shipping?

The sender’s National ID card or Passport, and for both sender and recipient: full name (first and last name), complete address in English, postal code (extremely important for delivery accuracy), and a contact phone number. Correct details help prevent customs clearance issues, shipment returns, and delivery delays.

Shipping cost & customs

How do UPS & DHL calculate international shipping?

UPS and DHL Express compare the parcel’s actual weight with its dimensional weight and generally use the higher value. Dimensional weight (kg) = Length × Width × Height ÷ 5,000 (in cm). For example, a 50 × 40 × 30 cm parcel has a dimensional weight of 12 kg. Read the full guide

Are there any hidden fees?

No. We offer clear, competitive international shipping rates with no surprise local charges, so you know exactly what you pay. The final charge may include applicable carrier surcharges — for example, a remote-area fee depending on the destination postal code or city.

Who pays import duties and taxes?

Responsibility depends on the agreed shipping terms, the carrier’s service, and the destination country’s rules. When the recipient is designated as the payer, they are generally required to pay before delivery or customs release. If the recipient does not pay, the carrier may seek payment from the sender under its applicable terms.

What you can send

Will gift-wrapped packages be opened for inspection?

Customs authorities may inspect an international shipment when necessary for customs, security, or regulatory purposes. Gift wrapping does not exempt a parcel from customs requirements, and customs declarations must describe the actual goods and their value.

Can counterfeit or copyrighted items ship internationally?

Counterfeit goods or products that infringe intellectual property rights are generally prohibited from international shipping and may be refused by carriers or authorities. See prohibited articles

Can you combine goods from several Thai suppliers into one shipment?

Yes. We coordinate goods from multiple Thai suppliers, handling collection, verification, expert packing, and international courier arrangements in one single hub — so you have a single point of contact for all your export parcels.
